Vintage Braun Paxette 35mm film camera, made in Nürnberg, West Germany and dating from approximately 1951–1953.
This is the original first-generation Paxette, sometimes retrospectively referred to as the Paxette I. It is fitted with a Roeschlein-Kreuznach Pointar 45mm f/2.8 lens and Prontor-S mechanical shutter.
This example is being sold strictly as SPARES OR REPAIR.
The camera is in poor to fair vintage cosmetic condition, with obvious signs of age and previous use including wear, marks, oxidation and age-related deterioration to the metalwork.
Mechanically, the camera does not wind and does not fire. Because of these faults, it has not been film tested and should be assumed to require repair or servicing before photographic use.
The Pointar 45mm f/2.8 lens remains fitted. The lens is fixed to this early version of the Paxette and is not interchangeable.
The front of the camera also incorporates an optical extinction exposure-meter system. This is a passive optical system and requires no battery.
The original leather carrying case is included and is also showing signs of age and previous use.
Despite the mechanical faults, this is an attractive early Braun camera and would make a good restoration project, source of spare parts, vintage display camera or period prop.
No film is included.
