Vintage Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 manual-focus prime lens, made in Japan and dating from approximately 1973–1976.
This is the earlier Type 1 version of the Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7, identifiable by its 0.45m minimum focusing distance, front-mounted serial number and green AE setting.
The lens uses the Konica AR bayonet mount, designed for Konica Autoreflex and later AR-mount 35mm SLR cameras.
This example is in good, clean condition, with normal light signs of age and previous use. No front or rear caps included.
The optics appear clean and the aperture blades appear clean from inspection. The focusing and aperture controls operate as expected.
With its fast f/1.7 maximum aperture, the lens is well suited to low-light photography, portraits and general everyday use, while the 50mm focal length provides a natural standard field of view on 35mm film.
The lens features a classic 6-element, 5-group optical design and a six-bladed diaphragm.
It can also be adapted for use on many modern mirrorless cameras with the appropriate Konica AR adapter.
